PHOENIX -- The Arizona Diamondbacks All-Stars shined on Saturday. Wholesale Jazz Jerseys . Miguel Montero hit a go-ahead, three-run double in the fifth and Paul Goldschmidt added a two-run homer, leading the Diamondbacks to a 9-3 victory over the Chicago Cubs. Goldschmidt went 3 for 3 with three runs batted in. He also scored three runs and walked twice, raising his batting average to .314. "When youre scoring multiple runs on at-bats, thats ideal," Diamondbacks manager Kirk Gibson said. Wade Miley (6-6) went seven innings, allowing three runs and seven hits, striking out seven with one walk. He is 3-0 in his last four starts. "Tried to make quality pitches and get ahead of guys," Miley said. The Diamondbacks tagged Cubs starter Travis Wood (7-9) for seven runs -- five earned -- on eight hits. He lost his third straight start. The Cubs have lost four in a row and 10 of 12. "I threw a pitch that kind of sat there and he made me pay for it," Wood said of Monteros double. "That is what he is able to do." The Cubs got a run to start the game on three straight singles with one out, the third hit coming from All-Star Starlin Castro to drive in Justin Ruggiano. If not for a leaping catch at the wall in dead centre field by the Diamondbacks Ender Inciarte, the Cubs might have added on more runs. Welington Castillos long fly ball looked like it would bounce off the wall for extra bases, but Inciarte tracked it down for the second out of the inning and Miley got out of the inning without further damage. "You go back and look at games, how theyre won and lost, thats one of those plays you look at," Gibson said. "Thats one of the things he can do and he did a heck of a job for us." Goldschmidt scored on Monteros single with help from an error on the play, hustling around third after Cubs centre fielder Arismendy Alcantara bobbled the ball. His throw beat Goldschmidt to home plate, but Goldschmidt avoided the lunging tag from Castillo and scored to tie it at 1. Alcantara, 22, was making just his second start in centre field after only seven big league games. "I was thinking of sliding straight in, but I could tell the way the catcher moved that if I slid straight, I was just going to slide right into his glove," Goldschmidt said. "Just tried to go around him and fortunately was able to do that." The Cubs plated a pair of fourth-inning runs. Castillo hit a line-drive home run into the seats in left field to lead off the inning, and Junior Lake legged out a triple into the left-field corner and scored on a sacrifice fly from Mike Olt. The Diamondbacks made it 7-3 in the sixth inning thanks to an RBI double from Goldschmidt and a dribbler up the third-base line from Mark Trumbo that went for an infield hit. Arizona improved to 10-3 in the last 13 games against Chicago. "We had a play here and there that made the game open up, but we just werent able to grind it out and put runs across," Cubs manager Rick Renteria said. Diamondbacks right fielder Cody Ross left the game with left calf tightness after singling to lead off the bottom of the second inning. He was replaced before the top of the third by Gerardo Parra. Gibson said it might have been a cramp for Ross and that he seems OK. NOTES: The Cubs played their 54th road game of the season, the most of any team in the majors. My seventh week of fight ready fitness had me arguing flexibility and conditioning with a few people. The comment that got me riled up was that Heavyweights run out of gas all the time. That turned into them also not being able to do jujitsu, they arent flexible or able to move. Well Ive been working on my conditioning, and I wont be testing it in the octagon any time soon but it did have me jump to the defense of Cain Velasquez, Junior Dos Santos, and Roy Nelson, all three high level athletes and all with enough gas in the tank to get some outstanding fights on their highlight reels. It wasnt just the decision that they werent fit. Thats a product of their training practices. Lots of heavyweights have a problem pushing themselves on conditioning because they dont have partners who can last in training. What got to me was the flexibility comment. There are a lot of jujitsu experts who are small, and flexible. They make it look easy to wrap people up, and bend in strange ways. Thats not usually the case with heavyweights. However, there are people who work at changing the paradigm. Frank Mir, and Big Nog are both prime examples. Utah Jazz Shirts. Watch them move while they fight, it is impressive. To prove the flexibility issue, I posted a picture on my Instagram @fitcityjordan. Its me attempting the splits. Im actually not too far off. Im going to spend the last little bit of my training time here doing Yoga, specifically something called Joga. Its a newer form of Yoga focused at athletes. Ive done a few classes, and Im impressed at how much it focuses on an athletes need to move, and flush lactic acid post training. Im hoping the next picture I post on Instagram of me doing the splits will be right to the floor. Im 63 and right now between 218 and 220lbs. It depends on the meal the night before. Before you go judging an athlete, start giving the training some time. Get out and sign up for kickboxing. Spend a few evenings rolling on the jujitsu mats, and yes head to Yoga. I found Sandy Grewinski at Yoga Public in Winnipeg. Her coaching style and the Yoga Public facility are the best addition to my wellness and total fitness that Ive found in a long time. Go find your new best friends. They are probably Yoga people. Nicest people youll ever meet. Something to be said for trying to live stress free. ' ' '
